Just a few easy and important tips to keep your Poinsettia plant fresh and vibrant.
If your poinsettia comes in a plastic sleeve be sure to remove it right away. If the sleeve is left on for more than 24 hours the leaves will droop and may even turn yellow before the holiday season is over.
Situate your poinsettia in an area with bright natural light. Poinsettia plants like a constant temperature. Keep them away from drafts, heat ducts, etc. They are not poisonous, but place them away from small children and animals. If ingested the plant could cause discomfort.
Be sure to puncture the bottom of the foil wrapper or pot cover to allow drainage. Place your plant on a waterproof container to catch the over flow when you water.
Keep the soil evenly moist. Don’t let the soil dry out completely. And be sure to drain any water that collects in the container under your poinsettia. This will prevent the leaves from yellowing and dropping.
