Store bulbs in a cool, dry, dark place until it’s time to plant them. They can be planted anytime after the ground cools in October, preferably after two hard frosts, but before the ground freezes solid.

If you have hungry squirrels in your yard, it’s helpful to lay chicken wire down to prevent them from digging bulbs up. Leave the chicken wire over winter and remove early next spring. If you prefer, you can use Repels-All to keep them away, but chicken wire is a more sure-fire way to prevent digging. Repels-All comes in a spray or granular.
