Lucys Story Chapter 36
My mom and dad keep on asking me what I want for Christmas. Would I like a new squishy ball or squeaky toy? Maybe some yummy (but healthy) treats?
They get so excited; I know I have to put something on the list. Let me see, I suppose I can make use of another toy or two. Treats are in both my daytime and nighttime dreams, so treats (yes, even healthy ones) are always welcome. A new collar would be nice (after all, a girl cannot have too many collars!)
This is so tough and I tried, honestly, I tried, but its all just stuff!
Dont they get that?
Well, I finished my list and gave it to them. After reading it my mom and dad looked at each other, then they laid on the floor with me and wrapped their arms around me. I think they finally got it!
So, what do I want for Christmas?
All I want is for my mom and dad to love me forever and ever.
`til next time,
Okay, so there was a P.S. on my list…
If you must have something under the tree for me, I spotted an adorable lime green and pink collar at the pet shop the other day…
A Different Kind of Recipe
One December night a few years ago, while I was wrapping Christmas gifts, I was inspired to put my thoughts on paper. Thoughts of times gone by and the way they have made me what I am today. If reading this triggers memories for you, memories you’d like to share, please drop me a line at email@example.com
My Cozy Quilt
New rolls of Christmas paper lay abandoned as
I dig through folded stacks of paper
rescued from years before.
The rescue is a joy itself.
They humor me.
Not something they would do.
Take time to fold and space to store.
Its so easy just to buy some more.
But as I search for the perfect piece,
my mind returns to seasons past.
All the love.
I feel so rich.
My paper is my cozy quilt.
Pieced from leftover scraps.
No time today to make the quilt,
but then there are no scraps.
No time to sew the pretty things like mother did and
then to fold and store leftovers to
bring out on a winter day and
remember when and
what they were before.
But, we dont do that anymore.
Instead, I have my wrinkled stack, with edges torn.
I choose and see again the book,
the doll, the shirt that matched your eyes.
Some rescues are so dear.
Saved again, year after year.
The Santa with the little pigs,
the Christmas tree made out of twigs,
bears, penguins, frogs and horses, too.
Memories flood my mind anew.

The Lost Purse
A lady lost her handbag in the bustle of Christmas shopping. It was found by an honest little boy and returned to her.
Looking in her purse, she commented, "Hmmm, that’s funny. When I lost my bag there was a $20 bill in it. Now there are twenty $1 bills."
The boy quickly replied, "That’s right, lady. The last time I found a lady’s purse, she didn’t have any change for a reward."

"Thanks for the electric guitar you gave me for Christmas," little Chris Cody said to his uncle the first time he saw him after the holidays. "It’s the best present I ever got."
"That’s great," said his uncle. "Do you know how to play it?"
"Oh, I don’t play it," the little fellow said. "My mom gives me a dollar a day not to play it during the day and my dad gives me five dollars a week not to play it at night."

What A Boy Wants For Christmas
Darren remembers accompanying his father out shopping in the toy department of Hamleys one Christmas Eve.
Dad said, ‘What a marvellous train set. I’ll buy it.’
The girl behind the counter looked pleased and murmured, ‘Great, I’m sure your son will really love it.’
Dad replied with a glint in his eye, ‘Maybe you’re right. In that case I’ll take two.’
