The near 90 degree days of the past several weeks make it almost impossible to believe that summer is over. But the deluge of ‘back-to-school’ ads combined with the cooler temperatures predicted for this weekend confirm that the calendar does indeed say September. The fall season has arrived and what a great one it is! A season of color, featuring every imaginable hue of yellow, orange, gold, red, purple, and brown.
Labor Day weekend kicks off September, and many gardeners take this opportunity to accomplish fall chores. It’s the perfect time to give your gardens a fresh look by thoroughly cleaning your beds, removing dead foliage and weeds as you make room for the mums and asters which will complete your seasonal landscape transition. A fresh layer of mulch and you’re done.
