It’s a Holiday Porch Pot Party!!!
A great way to burn off that Thanksgiving feast is to attend our Holiday porch pot workshop!

Some of you might be asking yourself, what is a porch pot? Well, it is simply a festive holiday pot that you create to match your style and decor. Just like people and snowflakes, no two porch pots are exactly alike! People usually add warmth and holiday spirit to their front door with their porch pots. They are also such a festive decor to welcome guests. Why not create a pair to go on either side of your doorway! Regardless of color, style and size of your porch pot it really is just a fun time to get together with family and friends. It is an interactive experience and one that truly lifts your spirits!

This past weekend was the first of our porch pot weekends and boy was it a blast!  Thanks to all who came and spent the day with us decorating and creating your holiday pots. We loved seeing your smiles and watching memories form in our greenhouses. Sounds of the season fill the air along with laughter and cheer.

We have two more weekends left and they are filling up fast! It’s a Porch Pot Party! Grab friends and family and head on over to our Cottage Grove location to attend the two remaining weekends of our Holiday Porch Pot Party! Saturday, Nov. 25th, 9-3 is a special one since we are also celebrating Small Business Saturday! There will be prizes given out throughout the day and a free gift for those that pre-register (while supplies last of course). If you want to get your name in before it fills up call 608-222-2269 or send us a message on our Facebook page!

We have been delighted to see many of you already purchasing your boughs, wreaths, roping, and trees for decorating your homes for the upcoming holiday season. The scent of the fresh greens is intoxicating and brings back memories of Christmas traditions.

Our fresh boughs are tied in mixed bundles for you to add interest and texture to your arrangements. Our bundles contain a mix of Balsam, Fraser fir, White pine, cedar and more. There are so many uses for our mixed greens bundles.

In talking with some of you, we learned you are making everything from porch pots to swags and wreaths. Some greens are also being used to decorate mantles and to make table centerpieces for holiday entertaining. We have plenty of bundles waiting for those of you who are just beginning your decorating enjoyment. We are here to help you give your home a festive holiday feel.

Can’t wait to see you here this weekend for our next Porch Pot Party!

Lady’s Story Chapter 41

I was just minding my own business listening to my mom and dad talk about Thanksgiving Day when suddenly they asked me what I was most thankful for, what brought me the most happiness, what made me feel all warm inside…

Well, that was an easy one to answer! I was going to say, ‘Turkey, turkey, turkey!’ But then I got to thinking how wonderful it is to have a warm bed to sleep in, fresh clean water to drink, 2 yummy meals a day, a backyard to run and play in and, gosh, just so many things. And then it hit me!

Duh, silly me! It’s my family, of course!

Love (and a little turkey) is all this girl needs!

Happy Thanksgiving!

WAFFLES AND TURKEY {THAT’S WAFFLED STUFFING!}

Makes 4 sandwiches

INGREDIENTS
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 6 cups of stuffing
  • 8 slices of turkey
  • 2 cups mash potatoes
  • 1 cup gravy
  • 4 slices cranberry jelly (or your preferred cranberry sauce)
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Preparation: Heat waffle iron.
  2. Mix together eggs and ¼ cup of chicken broth. Add to stuffing and and mix to combine. If mixture is dry, add an additional 1 tablespoon of chicken broth to mixture one at at time. Stirring after each addition to make sure mixture is coming together.
  3. Form mixture into a patty 2 inches wide and 1 inch thick. Place on waffle iron and flatten slightly. Cook until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. To assemble sandwich: Layer one waffle with mash potato, gravy, cranberry jelly and turkey. Place second waffle on top. Serve immediately.
I saw stuffing waffles in Good Housekeeping magazine recently and I’m intrigued by this. I’m not a stuffing lover, but I do like the crispy edges of a stuffing prepared in a pan. So here I am on Pinterest searching for stuffing waffle recipes. This recipe is very similar to the one in GH magazine, just made into sandwiches instead of a larger waffler with the fixings piled on top. I’m certain this recipe will be tried after Thanksgiving & Christmas.
