Lady’s Story – Chapter 26

Glow-in-the-dark Lady

Hey, look at my new collar!  It glows in the dark!  There is a button on it and when my mom or dad presses it my collar starts to glow.  If they push the button again it blinks and if they push the button AGAIN it blinks faster.  Wow!  This is like real sci-fi stuff.

I heard my mom say, ‘Good golly, what are they going to think of next!?  Some kind of ‘Beam me up, Scotty’ collar?’ and then she just shook her head.

Not sure who this Scotty is but I’m thinking he’s my kinda guy!

America’s Best Flowers Fundraising Program

Spring 2017 is right around the corner!  People are beginning to think about vegetable gardens, shade trees, flowering shrubs and glorious flowers.

What perfect timing for your non-profit organization to participate in America’s Best Flowers fundraiser program.  Non-profit organizations earn 25% of the proceeds from each America’s Best Flowers gift card they sell.  For example, if your organization sells $500 of our gift cards, which are available in any denomination over $10, your organization would earn $125.

Please contact us if your non-profit organization is in need of funds for things such as (but by no means limited to):

  • local charities, (i.e. food pantry)
  • church mission trips,
  • new equipment or uniforms for your school sports program, or
  • new equipment or uniforms for your school band or orchestra.

America’s Best Flowers gift cards are valid at both our Cottage Grove and Edgerton locations.

We’d be happy to come to your location and meet with your organization to discuss our easy-to-do and profitable fundraiser opportunity.

If you are interested or have questions about our fundraiser program, please contact Shirley at abfscimino@yahoo.com.

Easy Growing Pothos

Snow Queen Pothos

If you like fast growing, low maintenance indoor plants then the Potho plant is a good match for you.  Potho plants thrive and grow in either direct sunny indoor areas or an indoor area with very little light.  The amount of light may affect the coloring and variegation of the leaves, but the plant will still grow and thrive.

It’s an independent plant that just does its thing without fuss or muss and it actually prefers to remain on the dry side.  So, let the plant become dry until the potting mixture is dry a few inches down.

They are known for their heart shaped leaves and fast growing vines and are often confused with philodendrons.  The Potho plant is a great plant for wall sconces or hanging baskets and can, eventually and without much effort, climb a wall or circulate around an entire room.

This is another house plant that will help to purify the air in your home.  Their broad leaves will easily collect dust so a regular dusting and an occasional wipe with a damp cloth will keep the plant healthy and looking sassy.

Upcoming Events for 2017

It’s going to be another busy season for us at America’s Best Flowers.

Our indoor Community Egg Hunt will be on Saturday, April 15 this spring.

We’re going to have 15 container workshops this year along with several different types of gardening classes.  Our hope is that we have a little something for everyone.  We’ll have more details about our 2017 events in future newsletters.

Our Kitchen

‘Our Kitchen’ is closed due to enjoying a little too much food over the holiday season. The recipes will start up again in early-to-mid February.
