Wreath Workshop

A cheery and festive wreath on your front door is a welcoming and warm way to greet your holiday guests into your home.

Join us on Saturday for our holiday wreath workshop.  If you need assistance we’ll be happy to give you pointers.  What a fun project for the family and, in fact, there are no limits to how many you can make.  What a nice surprise for Grandma and Grandpa or what about that special neighbor of yours?

It’s such a thoughtful way to show people that you are thinking of them and wishing them Happy Holidays!

Join us on Sunday and create a beautiful centerpiece for your holiday table!  Start by adding fresh greens to florist’s foam to create your base.  Choose from our assortment of picks for a seasonal accent.  For that classic look simply add a candle.

Gorgeous Poinsettias

Our Edgerton location has been busy growing beautiful poinsettias for the coming holiday season.  Stop by our Cottage Grove or Edgerton location this weekend and pick some up for your family, friends and, of course for yourself!

A little boy was in church for the first time.
He watched as the ushers passed around the collection plate.
When they got to his pew, he told his father,
"Don’t pay for me, Daddy. I’m under five."

Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree…

Ho, Ho, Ho, your fresh cut Christmas tree is here and waiting for you to take it home!  Again this year we have Wisconsin grown Fraser/Balsam mix Christmas trees.

We have all sizes of trees up to 9 feet for you to choose from.  Need a heavy duty stand for your tree?  We have a limited supply of steel arm 25” stance tree stands that will hold your tree safely.

We’ll fresh cut the trunk for you and help you load it into or on top of your vehicle.  If you live within 5 miles of our Cottage Grove location we’d be happy to deliver them to your home.  A $10.00 delivery fee would apply for that service.

I have a fear of speed bumps, but I’m slowly getting over it!

The Coin Toss

By the time Bobby arrived, the football game had already started. "Why are you so late?" asked his friend.

"I couldn’t decide between going to church and going to the football game. So I tossed a coin," said Bobby.

"But that shouldn’t have taken too long." said the friend.

"Well, I had to toss it 35 times."

Our Kitchen

Just in case you didn’t get enough decadent desserts last week, here is another one from Diane, the baker who provided the wonderful pecan pie recipe a couple of week’s ago.  She spoils us every chance she gets and almost every recipe is worth passing on.  Hope you enjoy this one as much as we all did.

Double Chocolate Brownies

  • 8 oz 70% cacao bittersweet chocolate, chopped & divided
  • 1 C butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 ½ c sugar
  • 1 ¼ c flour
  • ½ t baking soda
  • ¼ t salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 t vanilla
  • 2 t powdered sugar
Directions

Preheat oven to 350.  Spray a 9” baking pan.

Melt 6 oz chopped chocolate in large microwave safe bowl with butter.  Microwave for 1 minute, stir.  Microwave 30 seconds, stir until smooth.

Stir sugar, flour, baking soda and salt together.  Add to chocolate mixture until well blended.  Add eggs and vanilla.  Stir until smooth.  Add remaining 2 oz chopped chocolate.  Stir.  Pour into pan. Spread level.

Bake at 350 for 35-45 min until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.  Cool in pan.  Dust with powdered sugar.
